So long, COM

At the tomb of the IUnknown Interface. As COM is dragged kicking and screaming towards the airlock, a strangely dry-eyed COM warrior celebrates its demise. [sellsbrothers.com: Windows Developer News]

This is about the funniest things since "Mr. Bunny's Guide to ActiveX"... :)  The name "Verity Stob" looked like an anagram to me, so I put it through an Anagram finder at wordsmith.com.   Nothing especially jumped out at me - anyone know who it is?  Is there a "Bert Vistoy" at ddj?  A "Betsy Vitro"? "Bitsy Trove"?  "Toby Strives"? "Boy's Trivet"?...

Mono Momentum

Dec 17th, 2002: Mono: Commercial uses.. Tipic today announced their work on porting their Instant Messaging Server platform to run on Mono. Winfessor also announced the availability of their Jabber SDK to run on Mono. Also two weeks ago we mentioned OpenLink Software's announcement of their product, also using Mono. [Mono Project News]

Kind of funny isn't it?  If they're "porting their code to run on Mono" that means they're writing managed code, which means it should run on Microsoft's CLR as well (especially since Mono's goal is mostly to clone Microsoft's services).  I guess it doesn't make splashy headlines to announce that they're "porting their code to run on Microsoft's .NET Platform"...
