Did we really talk like that?

I was looking at some old USENET posts and saw one I posted almost three years ago to the day.  Reading this just makes me love managed code.  It also reads to me like a warning of what can happen when you try to build your whole world around intereception-based services.

Compact Framework goes 1.0!

I must have missed this - it's dated Jan 3. Windows CE .NET 4.1 .NET Compact Framework 1.0 RTM Update  (from The Furrygoat Experience)

Along the same lines: Smart Personal Objects:

[News.com] Smart Personal Object Technology (SPOT) is software that allows devices, such as alarm clocks, to run Microsoft's .Net Compact Framework and gain access to data stored on a central PC.

More info from last Nov found here.

Please remove your belt sir

Penn: a new hero. This is a great story of a citizen standing up for his rights against petty fascism. Didn't hurt that he's an amazing and famous comedian. Don't try this without being famous. [Lessig Blog]
Talking about security procedures at airports always gets my blood boiling. This story (if true) was great.  Every time I think about giving an airport screener too much hell I'm always stopped by one thought- it would be too easy for them to get revenge by planting drugs.
